Fall Meeting

Our Fall Meeting with brother Keith Parker was held on August 21, 22 and 23. It was tremendously successful and many souls were restored. Chris Walker led the singing for this meeting. Our heartfelt thanks to both these good men for a fine job.

Got something to say?

Everyone that missed last night, missed a great time. Hope to see you tonight!
So true, and true for tonight as well!
Well, for those of you that missed the 10:00 AM service, you truly missed something special! Not since I was young have I heard a minister preach such a Amen shouting, Hallelujah praising sermon! It was terrific! And the singing - oh my, what a wonderful song leader is Chris Walker! He has the spirit of God in his voice! I must say this is the way sermons to me, should be preached - with passion - on fire for God and our Saviour Jesus Christ! In this world today, we come to church and are all so reserved and righteous in our worship. It’s like if someone says an Amen outloud they are frowned upon. There are no Amens, no Hallelujahs, no Praise the Lord, nothing. We just sit there so nice and reserved without any passion at all - all lukewarm, myself included. So many times I have wanted to shout Amen from the back of the auditorium but I can just imagine what looks I would get. So I let that stand in the way of how I actually feel - shame on me!!! I think all of us should take the sermon preached today, ministers, elders, deacons, member Christians and put some fire into the services presented!!
Carolyn,
I know you well, and love you, and agree with you. This comment insn’t for you so much as readers of these comments in general, considering the subject. Christian worship should be reverent and orderly (1Cor 14:40; Heb 12:28). However, decent, orderly, and reverent doesn’t mean boring, starchy and cold (though that’s what we sometimes get). Worship isn’t something we watch, it’s something we do. While everyone doesn’t participate in the same way, or role, everyone is a participant, or they’re not worshipping. I’ve long said, If we wouldn’t be comfortable with what’s mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:16 & 24-25 in our assemblies, then we’re just too formal! So, if you need to say amen, or praise the Lord, do it. The Lord knows I do! But, we must consider the weakness and ignorance of some well-meaning brothers and sisters too. If something’s been done a certain way for a long time, over-zealousness can break things. Refridgerated dough needs to set out and warm up a bit before we roll it out. However, bottom line: If you can’t praise God in church, where on earth can you?
