God’s Plan for Women (1)

women.jpg“You’ve come a long way baby!—a woman’s right to choose—girl power!”—We’re familiar with slogans from the Feminist Movement. It’s influence has extended into the church creating controversies that have split churches, and presented us tough questions that can seem difficult to answer. For the next several weeks, I’ll write about God’s plan for women, or woman’s role in the family, society and church, and then about some unusual situations for women we find in the Bible that meet with God’s approval. This week, I’ll briefly write about where we Christians must stand.

Campaign 2010 LIVE - FRIDAY

cross.jpg

The Finale… It is the last day of campaign with Parrish Avenue Church of Christ. We did some door knocking this morning for about two hours. We then hurried back to the church building to set-up our car wash and eat a quick bite of lunch. We have some of the hardest working teens and adults I have ever seen. We washed about 34 cars today including the car of a local reporter for the paper. The reporter was completely blown away that we would wash his car, feed him lunch, and give him a free drink with no strings attached or no gimmick. He was tremendously impressed with our efforts. The car wash ended with no time for us to travel to the hotel to clean up and shower. Without complaining, our adults and teens just changed clothes at the church, and we went to pick up VBS kids for our final night of VBS. We had our highest number of VBS kids tonight with 43. Parrish Avenue’s Sunday morning attendence is 32, and for the past three nights we have had more VBS kids in their building than their Sunday morning attendance. God is awesome.

This week we have: knocked on over 2,000 doors, served 76 burgers, washed 34 cars, 140 kids attended our VBS, 4 Bible correspondences, at least 6 Bible studies, and the awesome story of Jesus shown to a city named Owensboro, KY.

Our teens and adults wore the name of their family, their church, and Christ with honor and dignity this week. If the lasting image of Jesus is what people saw in our teens and adults, then Jesus was well-represented.

I have not completely gathered and collected my thoughts (due to some late night hanging with some cool dudes) to gain a final perspective on this campaign. There is one thing that is cinched in my head though, and that is: God is every shade of awesome.

We are headed HOME to Smyrna tomorrow. Please pray today, thanking God for wonderful teens and adults at Highland, for a safe journey home, and a wonderful Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Wilber out.

Here is the names who all attended our campaign:

Zillon Russell, Eli Harrell, Ryan Conn, Craig Winfree, Zeben Russell, Alden Wakefield, Spencer Cooper, Brad Brown, Terry Robinson, Chris Beasley, Evan Jacobs, Nathan Pappas, Logan Pappas, Sidney Pomeroy, Cierra Ashton, Jessica Lee, Haley Hofferbert, Holly Wakefield, Helen Ashton, Teresa Mobbs, Karen Mobbs, Keisha Pappas, Lori Winningham, Ryan Mobbs, Erron Carlin, Russell Winfree, Micheal Wilson, Josh Pappas, Darby Wilber, Alison Wilber, and Matt Wilber
